Job Purpose
My Insurance Broker Corp is looking to add to its Commercial Accounts team a dynamic, energic, and team-oriented Commercial Lines Junior Underwriter. The successful candidate will build and maintain positive, long-lasting relationships with clients, insurance company representatives, and team members. The Commercial Lines Junior Underwriter must be well organized and possess the ability to prioritize workflow while working with their team to provide outstanding customer service to our clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain positive, long-term relationships with clients, brokers, insurance company representatives, and team members.
- Provide value to clients by offering newly available coverages, identifying exposures, determining the appropriate solutions to those exposures, and advising the client of the reasons the solutions are best for their business.
- Collaborate with both the marketing and service teams.
- Respond to the insurance company and/or client concerns/inquiries in a timely professional manner.
- Organize and prioritize work effectively with a sense of urgency.
- Work independently and with the team.
- Maintain current client files.
- Other miscellaneous duties as required.
Administrating Endorsements and Service House Clients - Commercial Lines:
- Servicing house book of business – taking calls from commercial service queue and process any policy change request or enquiries for Commercial Property and Liability.
- Sending out all endorsement documents with appropriate changes to house clients.
- Underwriting endorsement requests from Brokers and submitting them to the insurance companies.
- Respond to queries from insurance companies regarding endorsements.
- Manage accounts receivable / transactions on the agency bill policies.
- Maintain non-compliance and send reports to the Manager by the end of each month.
- Work closely with the new business and renewal team on any possible re-markets or cross selling opportunities.
- Issuing Certificates of Insurance.
Qualifications
- Minimum College or University level Degree/Undergraduates Degree or comparable experience
- Minimum 1 - 3 year of work experience in a commercial lines department at an Insurance Brokerage and/or Insurance company in a similar role and/or with similar duties and responsibilities
- R.I.B.O (Level I) License (Preferred) or subject to completion within 60 days of starting the job position.
- Proficient with insurance policy systems as well as MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience working with company portals and Broker Management System (EPIC) is an asset.
- CIP, CAIB, or CRM designations or working towards its completion
