Clinical Educator

Under the general supervision of the VP - Patient Services and Chief Nursing Officer and in collaboration with the Program Teams, the incumbent is responsible for the following:

• Educational program development for: Nursing staff including RN’s, RPN’s, support staff including PSW’s and/or applicable technicians
• Teaching and learning activities
• Patient education development
• Professional and self-development

Qualifications:

Experience

• Must have a minimum of three years recent related nursing experience with demonstrated competency in a defined area of clinical nursing practice
• Previous experience in teaching, education and program development and evaluation is preferred
• Previous experience with working with International Educated Nurses preferred

Education

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing required
• Master’s degree in nursing is preferred (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
• Certificate or certification in a related specialty area preferred

Certification/Licensure/Registration

• Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Active participation in professional associations preferred
• Current CPR (Targeted Responder) certification Required

Qualifications and Skills

• Scope of practice as documents in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in complex situations
• Evidence of knowledge of the principles of adult learning and teaching strategies
• Demonstrated ability to function collaboratively and independently
• Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development
• Initiates and supports change
• Demonstrated leadership ability
• Competency with word processing and presentation programs required
• Knowledge of First Nations culture an asset
• Knowledge of Internationally Educated Nurse licensing an asset
• Reliable attendance record
