About the Position
Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a full-time Clinical Applications Educator. The ideal candidate would be
dedicated to patient care and committed to championing the Hospital’s Mission to relieve illness and suffering,
and help people live healthier lives. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Clinical
Applications Educator is primarily responsible for providing training and support to users of the Hospital
Information System and integrated applications. You are a motivated self-starter with strong organizational,
time management and interpersonal skills, and enjoy taking on challenging issues. You thrive in an ever-
changing environment with focus towards Quality of Care.
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for onboarding and offboarding duties related to EMR account management, training and
- Adopt and expand our current in-person training programs to be tailored to more roles within the
- Deliver discipline-specific training, improving staff efficiency and reducing errors.
- Provide “at the elbow” floor support and tailored orientation to boost staff confidence and technical skills
- Track training progress and program effectiveness through analytics, feedback and reports.
- Prepare for the new HIS / EMR implementation with a well-trained workforce, reducing disruption by
- Foster a close relationship between IT, the end-user, and technology.
- Assist the technical team with delivery of IT basic concepts, problem-solving tips and Cyber Awareness
- Replicate the EMR onboarding and training process for West Haldimand General Hospital.
- Participates in special projects as required.
Requirements:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario; BScN is preferred
- Education in Health Informatics or experience in health informatics, or education with a focus on clinical
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the provision of evidence-based practice in a clinical setting
- Deep understanding of hospital workflow and the different departmental roles within a hospital
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with Meditech- Magic version.
- Minimum 5 years’ clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting with thorough knowledge of
- Experience with Epic Health Information System an asset.
- Ability to support all Meditech modules and Epic Health Information System
- Adaptable Teacher characteristics and demonstration of strong customer service skills with the ability to
- Ability to collaborate with multiple professionals to meet organizational goals.
- Ability to work under pressure, maintaining steadiness, composure and professional disposition.
- 2 years experience using Microsoft Office applications such as SharePoint, PowerPoint, working with
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, to successfully support all levels of staff in resolving issues.
- Excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
- Vehicle and valid driver’s licence, to enable travel between customer sites.
- Participate in on-call IT Support duties to handle emergency problems and issues.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm –On-call rotation
