Key Responsibilities:
- Complete initial information gathering and assessment of in-person telephone referrals regarding child welfare concerns
- Complete initial and comprehensive searches and compile information regarding the child and family that focus of the allegation.
- Screen for the presence of domestic violence, human trafficking during the initial assessment and gathering of referral information
- Disposition each case within the timeline dictation by the Child Protection Standards
- Follow up with the family and the referral community agency/resource where appropriate.
- Maintain an understanding and adheres to all legislation, regulations, policies, procedures and standards of the Ministry and JF&CS.
- Required to participate on the emergency after hours team rotation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
- MSW or BSW or equivalent Human Services Degree
- 3 or more years related experience in Child Welfare case management.
- Authorized under the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies (OACAS)
- Knowledge and/or expertise in child protection investigative processes, community resources, clinical assessment, trauma informed – strength based practice
- Experience with Child Protection Information Network (CPIN) database system, considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of the CYFSA, as well as, the Child Protection Standards in Ontario, Ontario Child Welfare Eligibility Spectrum and Ontario Child Protection Tools Manual.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is required
- Comprehension of French or another language will be considered an asset.
