Q2 ALS manufactures high quality individual pump parts in the Oil and Gas Industry. We offer a complete product line of barrels, plungers, fittings, accessories and heat treated tubing needed for downhole pump installations.
Basic Employee Responsibilities
Every Q2 ALS employee is expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
- Leading by example by following established Quality, Health and Safety policies & procedures.
- Showing respect and pride for facilities and equipment.
- Being responsible – on time for work and take breaks during designated times.
- Carrying out other tasks from time to time as assigned by a supervisor or request for assistance as needed.
Operating a Grinder in accordance with approved, safe work procedures. Grind plungers, valve rods and polish rods as scheduled by supervisor, ensuring conformance to specifications and technical work instructions. Manage a clean work area and daily housekeeping in accordance with company 5S policies.
- Operate Grinders and complete work orders to maximize operational and machine efficiency using standard work process and procedures.
- Manage daily grinder process flow. Ensure next job is on deck to maximize efficiency. Move complete job to next square in process.
- Complete work order documents and update hourly production boards (incl. set-up times and issues).
- Complete daily housekeeping as per company 5S policy and maintain a clean and neat work area.
- Communicate potential continuous improvement initiatives to supervisor (incl. speed and feeds, set-up efficiencies etc.)
- Conducting regular routine maintenance operations in accordance with pre defined schedules to minimize downtime.
- Ensuring the integrity and current calibration of all the measuring devices is maintained.
- Report to supervisor any requirements for tools, parts and supplies.
- Understand job orders, standard work and drawings to determine machining operations to be performed.
- Verify material dimensions to drawings using calibrated measuring equipment.
- Perform in process quality checks.
- Report and document any nonconforming product so supervisor.
- Good mathematical skill.
- Experience as a grinder operator is preferred but not required.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawing.
- Ability to measure pieces using measuring equipment to verify that the size meets the specifications.
- Ability to work independently.
- When required, be part of a team, fellow operators and management to co-ordinate efforts to ensure that machines are used efficiently, and work priorities are well managed.
- Ability to learn new specifications and procedures through on-the-job training and experience.
- Periodic heavy lifting up to 5Olbs.
