The Interior Design Technology program is looking for a dynamic, energetic individual with strong communication skills who is committed to student success, satisfaction, motivation, and achievement and in participating in the team concept of program operation. Instructors are responsible for assisting in the effective operation and development of the program including holistic student engagement, course development, and continuous improvement. Course requirements range from three to seven hours per week. Working industry members interested in instructing a single course are encouraged to apply.

Areas of focus for potential candidates include:
Experience in commercial design with a focus on technical aspects such as working drawings, building code, specifications etc.
Computer literacy and working knowledge of AutoCAD and proficiency in Revit.
Knowledge of Photoshop and Sketchup and other graphic rendering software required.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
Comfortable with learning new technologies as they arise.
Bringing passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the program.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and present content in the classroom and online.
Facilitate learning by utilizing appropriate instructional strategies to maximize student motivation and learning in a skill-building environment.
Prepare, administer, and grade assessments such as exams and assignments.
Organize and supervise practical assignments.
Ensure learning is evaluated in a reliable and timely manner, providing appropriate and timely feedback to students; submit marks/records promptly.
Collaborate with colleagues and teaching teams regularly to ensure consistency and quality of curriculum and instruction.
Provide coaching or referrals for students who are experiencing difficulties to maximize retention and student success.
Regularly solicit feedback on instruction from students and colleagues and use the results to improve instructional delivery.
In accordance with a designated framework, utilize appropriate educational technology for communications, presentations, and program promotion.
Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners.
Maintain contact with relevant industries.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A degree in Interior Design or a diploma in Interior Design Technology is a requirement.
Eligibility for membership or affiliate membership with any provincial or national accrediting body is an asset.
Other combinations of relevant training and experience may be considered.
Related instructional experience in a post-secondary environment would be an asset.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $99/Scheduled Instruction Hour. (Classification – Instructor Casual Credit).
All casual instructor assignments are covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement.
