Job Summary
Overall Purpose:
The role of the Part-Time Care Support Worker is to assist each participant in our housing program by creating a safe environment where the participants are supported to increase their awareness of healthy decision making, utilize life skills and implement coping strategies learned through their therapy and programming. The Care Support Worker will also maintain all house rules daily to ensure the protection of each participant’s emotional and physical safety.
General Duties:
- Consider and adhere to risk management and participant protection policies and procedures
- Maintain proper procedures and paperwork; ensuring ethical guidelines
- Adhere to privacy and confidentiality agreements
- Follow the mandate of the organization.
- Participate in team approach to problem solving and goal setting
Primary Duties:
- To supervise and provide support to participants.
- Engage with participants to build rapport, support their well-being, encourage life skills and healthy decision making.
- To complete all Daily Logging in CRMS by end of shift, unless there are extenuating circumstances with senior manager approval, notes can be completed within 24 hours of shift.
- To ensure general tidiness and cleanliness of house is maintained.
- To transport participants for personal errands (ex, groceries, fast food, etc).
- To keep record of receipts and complete expense reports to be forwarded to Office Manager.
- To transport participants Monday through Thursday to program for 9:30am and from program at 3:00pm.
- To transport participants to extra-circular activities.
- To support participants with nightly meal preparation, household chores including garbage and recycling and regular hygiene
- To respond to crisis situations appropriately and in a timely manner.
- To preserve a home space that always implements emotional and physical safety.
- To follow medication protocol
- To administer drug tests at management request
- To attend Care Team staff meetings.
- To ensure common areas in lower level of home are clean and tidy.
- To ask and collect electronic devices at night from Sunday-Thursday.
- To ensure that participant bedrooms, upon participant discharge, are cleaned and sanitized within one week of participant departure as per Residential Manual.
- To complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in a residential housing environment
- Completion or working towards a degree in Social Work
- Strong communication skills
- Valid G licence
- Strong organization skills
- Conflict resolution skills
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 per week
