We have a great opportunity in the Capital Accounting area within Finance. We a seeking to hire a Capital Accounting Clerk
What You Will Do
Reporting directly to the Manager, Capital Accounting, the majority of work is performed independently with minimum supervision.
As the Capital Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible for performing general accounting duties for the TTC. This includes assisting with the recording of financial transactions and supporting the month-end and year-end financial reporting process.
Key responsibilities include coordinating and processing monthly transactions, such as capital accruals, and ensuring the completeness and accuracy of capital project reporting. The role is also accountable for reviewing capital project costs to confirm appropriate allocation and maintaining various databases and expenditures reports.
Additional duties will involve monitoring, tracking, and updating information related to capital asset inventory and following up as required.
You will also provide general support to the Capital Accounting team and be responsible for various administrative tasks as assigned.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?
- University Degree, or College Diploma in a related field, including courses in accounting, or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, journal entry preparation and account analysis
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail, and demonstrates ability to perform work accurately and a timely manner
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications such as, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Sound judgement in identifying unusual transactions, balances or circumstances requiring investigation and follow-up
- Experience working with external auditors and comfort in supporting audit-related activities
- Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to respond to inquiries efficiently and effectively and resolve issues across departments
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations and the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage a high volume of daily workflow
- Knowledge of and experience with SAP is preferred
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
