Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Bakery Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in our bakery operations, assisting with various tasks to ensure our customers receive high-quality baked goods. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and a strong commitment to food safety and customer service.
This position is from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Tuesdays and Wednesdays plus extra days during busy times of the year and all holidays. Unfortunately, this job is not suitable for students.
Responsibilities
- Package and label baked goods
- Portion and bake mixed dough and batters
- Decorate cookies and other baked goods
- Prepare recipes, refill ingredient containers with some heavy lifting
- Dishwashing, cleaning and sanitizing
- Ensure that the quality of products meets established standards
- Operate baking equipment
- Organize and maintain inventory
- Errands and deliveries with paid mileage
- Extra days may be required at busier times of the year and holidays
- Maintain gluten-free baking environment
- This is a physically demanding position with standing required most of the day and repetitive tasks.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in the food industry or a bakery setting is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling techniques (food handler's certificate preferred).
- Basic baking skills and an understanding of kitchen equipment.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and positive attitude.
- A passion for baking and willingness to learn new techniques is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of gluten-free foods and allergies an asset.

Pay: $17.50 per hour
