ABOUT THE ROLE
The Assistant Town Clerk bears a responsibility in providing leadership, a strong work ethic, and professionalism in all undertakings on behalf of the town. Reporting directly to the Town Council and Town Clerk/Manager.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Shall help to maintain an appropriate filing system for taxation and assessment purposes by civic address, preservation of all official documents of Council, minutes of meetings and other data deemed to be essential and to revise and edit changes on a regular basis to maintain a current file.
· Shall assist in the preparation of all contract documents, tenders and calls for Proposals required for activities undertaken by Council.
· Shall participate in payroll, accounts payables and accounts receivables, and shall ensure that all reporting is maintained in the manner dictated by policy and in keeping with best practice for financial management and reporting procedures.
· Shall assist the Town Clerk Manager to prepare and present the annual municipal budget.
· Assist Town Clerk/Manager and auditors with the annual review of financial records.
· Carry out collection procedures (e.g., telephone calls, written notices, tax sales).
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED
· Completion of a 2-year post-secondary degree or business administration diploma from a recognized institution.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
· Experience working in a municipal government considered an asset but not essential.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and deliver results within established timelines.
· Proven ability to handle confidential information and manage high workloads while meeting deadlines.
· Exceptional attention to detail and mathematical accuracy.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Submission of a Certificate of Conduct, including an RCMP Criminal Record Check and Provincial Court Check, is required prior to employment.
· Experience providing excellent customer service to the public.

Pay: $16.00-$26.80 per hour
