Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Program Supervisor to work in the Supported Independent Living Program. Our Assistant Program Supervisor will play a crucial role in assisting with the day-to-day operations while also providing mentorship and training to employees. Working closely with the Program Supervisor, the successful candidate will ensure that we operate in alignment with our organization's mission, vision, and values. This role entails ensuring individuals receive comprehensive support for independent living, optimal health, and abundant opportunities to pursue their desired activities and interests in the community. What will you be doing:

Individual Support
  • Be involved in the developing, implementing, and monitoring of individual support plans along with maintaining positive relationships with other agencies or programs.
  • Play an active role in providing individual(s) opportunities to grow relationships, as well as teaching and assisting the individual(s) in developing interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate empathy, patience, and respect in providing comprehensive care, prioritizing the individual's needs and fostering a nurturing environment grounded in compassion and understanding.
  • Facilitate community engagement for individuals, empowering them to actively participate while advocating for their rights and fostering a culture of justice and inclusion.
Leadership & Administration
  • Guide and support new team members, fostering their seamless transition into the organization and empowering them to provide quality care.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to staff, assisting the Program Supervisor in identifying performance issues and promoting a positive work culture.
  • Ensures completion and secure storage of records and documentation following Organization’s policies and procedures and meeting Department of Families requirements.
  • Contribute to administrative tasks such as scheduling, payroll management, and adherence to organizational policies, ensuring smooth operations, while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ensures that all required financial documents are completed and remitted on time.
  • Ensure continuity of operations and adherence to organizational policies and procedures in the absence of the Program Supervisor, serving as a reliable backup to maintain seamless functionality.
  • Fulfill responsibilities related to on-call duties, providing coverage during weekends and periods when the Program Supervisor is absent to ensure continuity of support and emergency response capability.
Maintenance and Safety:
  • Ensures the home and appliances/equipment inside the home are maintained well, following fire safety regulations, ensuring the working alone policy is adhered to, and reporting and responding to unsafe conditions.
  • Participate in basic maintenance and upkeep of each home and must understand safe work practices and apply them to a home environment.
What you are bringing:

Must Haves:
  • 1+ years of experience supporting individual(s) with intellectual disabilities within the community.
  • 1+ years of experience in a position that requires direct, professional communication to peers, managers, and both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently in the community, providing one-on-one supports.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check within the last three months.
  • Ability to be on call 24/5 Monday -Friday, and on call rotating weekends.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certificate.
Nice to have:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field.
  • Prior experience in a position that required critical thinking, problem solving, and constantly adapting to new challenges.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training (NVCI).
  • Valid Class 5F Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
