Job Description: Assistant Logistics Coordinator
Location: Marine Cable Base, Halifax, NS
Position Summary
Reporting to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will be called upon as the resource person for all matters relating to logistics coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work with Project Managers to understand project requirements during the planning phase.
- Attend scheduled meetings.
- Work with agents, couriers and transporters locally and internationally to obtain quotations for services.
- Work closely with all Company departments to assemble required shipping documentation for domestic and international shipments.
- Liaise with agents, carriers, customers and/or customs brokers locally and worldwide to ensure smooth customs clearance as well as delivery of cargo.
- Prepare transport bills of lading (truck), and courier labels (i.e. FedEx, DHL, etc.).
- Preparing accurate bills of lading and satisfying air bills in a timely manner.
- Co-ordinate packing lists/invoices for all import shipments and pre-alert our customs broker.
- Perform cargo security check and necessary documentation for cargo being shipped commercial air freight from Company facilities.
- Liaise with external service provider for Hazardous Cargo Shipping Documentation or Packaging.
- Ensure all shipments leaving Company facilities are properly packed and labelled for shipping.
- Work closely with Logistics Coordinator and Purchaser.
- Perform related duties as assigned, within general scope of practice.
- Assist the Director – Cable Maintenance with general administrative and project coordination duties as and when required.
Ideal Candidate:
- Have one of the below degrees or have equivalent experience: High school diploma, post secondary education or higher education.
- Experience in logistics is required.
- Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) and the International Society of Logistics (SOLE), will be beneficial.
- Experience working in a project-based environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office O365.
