Detritus Consulting Ltd. is hiring archaeological field crew for a full-time seasonal position with our Hamilton area crew for the remainder of the 2025 season. These crews tackle projects in greater Hamilton as well as Haldimand, Halton and Brant counties. Responsibilities will include field work on Stage 1 – 4 assessments, including archaeological survey, excavation, artifact collection and recognition. Successful candidates may qualify for the 2026 field season.
Skills / Qualifications
· Willingness and ability to work outdoors all day in varied temperature and conduct manual labour (excavation) as well as finer work (trowelling and artifact collection) sometimes in difficult terrain.
· Should be able to lift to 50 lbs. and be capable of repetitive movement (shoveling and screening soil)
· Green patch safety boots required, all other tools and PPE provided
· Experience and interest in field archaeology considered an asset. Training in field techniques provided.
· Ability to travel in own vehicle (valid G drivers license). Covid-19 protocols encourage separate travel and physical distancing as much as possible at work.
· Able to follow technical and safety instructions
· Willingness to work alongside representatives from various Indigenous Nations
