PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The purpose of the Machinist position is to ensure that jobs are completed to the satisfaction of the customer in a timely fashion. Machinists will be expected to fabricate and modify parts, maintain machines, apply knowledge of shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. This includes the set up and operation of a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts.
SCOPE
The Machinist position reports to the shop Foreman and is expected to consult with the foreman and management on techniques used for machining.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Clean tools and equipment, check for defects, maintain as required
· Measuring, layout, and process planning as required
· Follow blueprints/drawings/work orders
· Manual machine setup and operation
· CNC machine setup/program and operation
· Shop and machine clean-up
· Maintain/sharpen cutting tools
· Document job labor and materials/supplies used
· Safe operation of lifting equipment
· Follow all safety procedures/precautions
· Document job labor and materials/supplies used
· Have required basic measuring equipment / hand tools to perform job
· Machine repair/calibration
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILL
· Mechanical aptitude
· Ability to read and follow blueprints
· Ability to work with little direction or supervision
· Computer skills/cad/cam
· Advanced knowledge of shop mathematics
· Have the ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship
Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
