Part-Time Aging-in-Place Care Aid Opportunity
Background
A senior couple living on an organic farm south of Saskatoon is seeking the hire private Continuing Care Aid (CCA) person(s) to serve as part of a team in an ageing in place arrangement.
At present, the care needs are focused on the 77 year old wife’s recent congestive heart failure (CHF), Atrial fibrillation (A-Fib) and insulin dependent Type 2 diabetes diagnosis (October 2024) as well as her brain stem stroke (May 2025). She now uses a four wheeled walker as mobility aid.
A nurse qualified to oversee her medication with particular emphasis on insulin regime and the regular procurement of other medications is in place. Physiotherapy is also being addressed.
Job Description
Attendance at the couple’s home Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - 8:30 to 11:30 am – at present (possibly five weekdays in the future) to provide personal care needs including, but not limited to:
· personal care and physical hygiene – showering etc.
· Daily tasks as needed;
· preparation of meals as required;
· grocery shopping as needed;
· exercise assistance;
· driving to medical and other appointments;
· light house-keeping duties;
· companionship; she enjoys music, gardening, painting, cooking, visiting, swimming.
Qualifications
A Continuing Care Aid Certification (CCA) or better is required. Experience in assisting patients with CHF and A-Fib and Type 2 diabetes is essential.
Remuneration
Commensurate with experience; $25 to $28/hr. is envisaged with minimum three hour per attendance event.
