DASCH is a non-profit organization established in 1974 dedicated to exploring and meeting the residential, day program, respite and foster care needs of youth and adults. All our programs are based in Winnipeg. Our residential program consists of over 50 homes, our day services program consists of two day programs and our educational program called DASCHWorks supports people in finding and maintaining meaningful employment. Position Summary
Under the direction of the Controller, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for assisting with bookkeeping, bank deposits, general accounting and administrative support. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our accounting department and ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes.
Role & Responsibilities
- Overseeing the full accounts receivable cycle from billing to collection.
- Generating and distributing invoices, providing paper copies of records.
- Keeping accurate records of payments received.
- Maintaining accounts receivable records to ensure aging is up to date.
- Reporting and managing the past due invoices.
- Making cash/cheque deposits at the bank.
- Responding to emails and phone calls for billing inquiries.
- Addressing billing concerns and investigating any issues.
- Processing various types of direct payments.
- Preparing and reversing monthly accruals, including payroll accrual and expenses.
- Entering payroll journal entries.
- Initiating bank account direct transfers.
- Providing support to the team across various functions as required.
- Performing administrative duties related to the accounting department.
- Acting consistently in the workplace according to basic values of honesty and openness.
Skills & Qualifications
- Completion of a certificate/diploma program in Accounting/Payroll.
- At least one year of experience in an office environment.
- Experience with Quickbooks and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Manitoba Driver’s License required for assisting with bank deposits.
- Access to a vehicle is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong mathematical, writing, and computer skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Work Hours:
- 30-40 hours per week, Term Position
- Monday to Friday days
Starting Salary: $42,000 annually (wage dependant on experience and skillset)
