Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Analyst to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP, and will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records. This role requires proficiency in accounting software and a solid grasp of financial concepts to support various accounting functions.
Responsibilities
- Process, review and verify vendor invoices, ensuring proper approvals and accurate account coding.
- Manage payment processes, including issuing payments via checks, ACH transfers, and wire transfers.
- Maintain vendor records and resolve payment discrepancies or disputes.
- Monitor accounts receivable balances and follow up with customers on outstanding invoices.
- Assist in the preparation and issuance of customer invoices and credit memos.
- Perform regular reconciliation of AP and AR accounts, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records, ensuring proper filing and compliance with internal policies.
- Assist with the preparation of audit documentation and support external audits as required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting regulations.
- Work directly with the CFO / Controller to support daily financial operations.
- Assist with process improvements, internal controls, and compliance initiatives.
- Provide financial data and support for ad-hoc projects as required.
- Assist in preparing financial reports, statements, and supporting schedules.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, or areas for improvement.
- Support internal financial reviews and management reporting processes.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Support the CFO in analyzing budget variances and financial projections.
- Gather and compile financial data to support strategic planning.
- Perform other duties assigned by reporting manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks or similar
- Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and accrual accounting principles, Microsoft office skills, particularly excel, pivot tables, VLOOKUP and financial modeling.
- Familiarity with financial management concepts including cash flow analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar (preferred but not required).
- Experience with non-profit accounting or corporate finance is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also managing individual responsibilities.
