Job Title: Accountant Automotive Dealership
Reports To: Operations Manager / Finance Manager
Job Summary:
The candidate is responsible for providing accounting and administrative support to ensure efficient, accurate financial and clerical operations at the dealership. This role involves managing daily accounting tasks, maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and supporting the finance team with reports and reconciliations.
Job Description:
As an Accountant at Paragon Auto Mall, you’ll work closely with the Operations team to ensure vehicle sales are accurate, complete, and properly posted. From there, you’ll expand your skills by reconciling factory receivables, warranty and floorplan schedules, commission statements, and everything else that supports a clean, healthy set of accounting records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record daily cash, credit, and cheque transactions.
- Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile ledger accounts.
- Handle accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure all entries are accurate.
- Process vehicle sales documentation in accordance with accounting procedures.
- Issue and track invoices, receipts, and payments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date filing of financial records.
- Accurately calculate commissions to be paid Assist with payroll data entry and expense reporting.
- Support inventory cost tracking and audits.
- Liaise with internal departments regarding account queries.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial reports and year-end audits.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business Administration
- Minimum of 2 years working experience in an accounting function
- Previous dealership experience is an asset
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Open to work flexible hours with month end, year end, etc.
- G driver's license and a clean abstract
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Work Conditions:
- Office environment within a fast-paced dealership.
- Standard office hours with occasional overtime during month-end or audit periods.

- OMVIC (preferred)
