Position Description:

Under the direction of the Director, Corporate Training (CT), the incumbent provides leadership, management and operational administration for CT instructors, support staff and corporate training clients. The Manager contributes to the strategic direction of the Centre for Professional and Continuous Learning, promoting the development of corporate training activities. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying the training needs of small, medium, and large corporate accounts and finding solutions that align with the client’s goals and objectives The Manager is accountable for planning, development, delivery and on-going review of these corporate training initiatives in a manner consistent with college policies and procedures. Accountable for meeting revenue and enrolment targets, the incumbent liaises with corporate training clients to ensure effective and efficient delivery of corporate training initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Provides leadership in the development, design and delivery of corporate training courses and programs based on client requirements.
  • Deploys needs assessment to ensure the program design aligns with the skills and competency development framework as outlined by the client.
  • Works collaboratively in the development and implementation of the departmental and divisional plan as part of the college's Academic Strategy.
  • Works closely with the Director on the development of corporate training strategies to assist the College with the implementation of innovative programming.
  • Utilizes research data and best practices information to plan, develop and deliver the highest quality training programs and services to produce superior learning results.
  • Supports the ongoing review and evaluation of programs and services. Takes action to create, expand, modify, or close courses/programs/services in order to meet the objectives of the strategic direction.
  • Plans, organizes and directs CT-related departmental activities within the framework of the College's balanced scorecard and strategic direction.
  • Provides leadership in the planning and development of new corporate training partnerships and initiatives.
  • Provides academic and administrative leadership to CT instructors involved in the development and delivery of corporate training initiatives.
  • Develops the appropriate management and support structures to ensure full compliance, quality delivery and superior service to staff corporate training clients.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:


  • Master’s degree or equivalent in discipline relevant to the department programming from a recognized post-secondary institute.
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience, preferably in the field of corporate training and professional development.
  • Demonstrated responsible administrative or leadership experience for purposes of developing and managing budgets, administration of policies and procedures and management of human resources within a unionized and non-unionized environment.
  • Computer literacy essential; experience with software to support teaching, research and administrative activities.

  • Knowledge of broader social, employment and economic context as it relates to existing and potential course offerings of the department.
  • Consensus-building skills; ability to promote excellent working relationships with both academic and non-academic staff and demonstrated ability in conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships across industries at different corporate and public sectors.
  • Excellent listening skills, verbal and written communication skills and an ability to communicate and negotiate with people are essential.
  • Demonstrated advocacy for the professions associated with their portfolio and awareness of the professional landscape locally, nationally and internationally.
  • Able to travel between campuses and throughout GTA to meet with corporate training clients and prospective clients.
  • Broad leadership skills managing a diverse team of experienced individuals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.

Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
