Academic Intake Coordinator
The Murphy Centre is a community-based agency committed to providing participants with quality educational, career and personal development opportunities. The Murphy Centre is currently seeking a full-time Academic Intake Coordinator.
Core Responsibilities
- Coordinate all aspects of the participant intake process
- Review applications, including transcripts and other supporting documents
- Interview applicants and provide appropriate follow-up and support
- Respond to inquiries from prospective applicants, referral sources, and others
- Schedule and track interviews
- Recommend / arrange additional assessments / testing as appropriate
- Consult with the Admissions Committee as appropriate
- Assist Adult Basic Education participants through the funding request process
- Liaise with Department of Education, funders, and other community partners
- Consult with the academic team regarding participant attendance and progress
- Provide wide-ranging participant and program supports
- Refer applicants to alternative programs and services as appropriate
- Maintain record-keeping through physical and digital files and data-base systems
- Collaborate with the Academic Services Coordinator
- Other related duties as required
Candidate Qualifications and Characteristics
- Experience working with youth and adults in an educational setting
- Knowledge of High School and Adult Basic Education programs and course requirements
- Background in transcript review to determine courses /credits needed for graduation
- Familiar with the post-secondary system including admissions requirements
- Familiarity with Adult Basic Education funding process
- Well-developed participant assessment skills
- Highly developed social and interpersonal skills
- Active listener, who demonstrates empathy and respect
- Strong knowledge of community services and resources
- Ability to contribute to a positive team environment
- Administrative experience in program management;
- Highly organized, methodical and diligent in documentation and record-keeping
- Appropriate post-secondaty education
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
