We are presently searching for our next great team member as a Patrol Leader to join our Alpine team. If you can provide our guests with an amazing experience, combined with working as an energetic part of our resort, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities include: (but not limited to)
- Compliance with all Manning Park Guiding Values, policies, and procedures as outlined in employee handbook and Patrol Manual
- Assisting with training, scheduling, and supervision of Patrol team
- Ensuring the Patrol Hut is kept up to standard (cleanness, inventory,…)
- Ensure guest and safety through identifying and mitigating hazards, maintaining all ski area ropes and signs, opening and closing runs, assessing, and mitigating avalanche risk, compiling weather data, providing first aid, participating in rope rescues, locating missing persons within bounds, and contributing to public education.
- Patient care record keeping and incident investigation documentation
- Guest Relations, including managing difficult guests
- Exemplify, educating, and enforcing the Alpine Responsibility Code
- Assisting with all special events
- Communicate clearance to open runs, on-hill hazards, etc.
- Keeping the ski area clean of debris and garbage
- Maintenance, inspection, and documentation of all Ski Patrol equipment
- Sign and uphold Manning Park’s Confidentiality Agreement
- Night On-Call resort/staff first aid
- Assisting Lift Operation with Daily opening/closing, Lunch cover, etc.
- Assisting Terrain Park Ranger with opening, monitoring, closing features
- Assisting with snow removal, roof clearing, etc.
- Other tasks as required
Job Requirements / Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years patrol experience
- SAR experience/knowledge considered an asset
- Experience managing a small/large team considered an asset
- Valid Emergency Medical Responder with OFA 3 endorsement (Preferred) or Occupational First Aid Level 3, CSP, 80 hr. Wilderness First Aid, or equivalent.
- Safety oriented working attitude and a professional manner
- Excellent communication and guest services skills
- Ability to be a supportive team member
- Able to follow direction and work unsupervised
- Advanced skiing/snowboarding skills, must be able to ski all runs with toboggan
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
- In excellent physical condition
- Previous experience with snowmobile/ATV an asset
- Avalanche Skill Training 1 (AST 1) or higher an asset. Avalanche Operations Level 1 preferred.
- Experience with Lift Operation and/or Terrain Park Maintenance an asset
- Experience with Manual Lift Evacuation, and self-Evacuation an asset
- Fall Protection training, working at heights or rock climbing experience an asset
- Knowledge of Manning Park Ski resort considered an asset
This is a seasonal position, so you must be able to commit to the role for the full Winter Season (November-April). As a seasonal team member, you may be presented with opportunities to cross train and support in other departments to meet seasonal demands.
