Compensation Information: $28.00 per hour

Physical Requirement: Light; work activities involve handling loads up to 10 kg; predominantly in an indoor setting.

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

This role is eligible for an incentive for successful applicants to receive $1 per hour worked based on completion of a full winter season contract. Conditions apply to this incentive and will be shared during the interview and onboarding.

Skills you bring with you:

  • Slopes department Supervisory experience within the ski industry.
  • Knowledge of Sun Peaks trail systems is preferred.
  • A skier/snowboarder; able to safely and competently navigate all terrain types on the mountain as well as work in all outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to complete quality control testing of the final groomed product for guests with a keen eye for detail to the highest standards.
  • Proficient in use of PC programs including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to make recommendations for annual budgets and to operate within the annual budget set forth.
  • Strong administrative skills including, but not limited to, team scheduling, concise and accurate daily report logs.
  • Valid BC driver’s license with abstract submitted annually.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (weekends and holidays) as required by Winter seasonal operating hours and special events.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Grooming Manager in all aspects of the Slopes department responsibilities with a positive, can do attitude.
  • Work closely with both Snowmaking and Events department staff.
  • Plan and help instruct seasonal training for all staff in the Grooming department and identify ongoing training needs, as required.
  • Meet daily with afternoon Slopes staff at the start of shifts for planning of each day. Review task lists, identify priorities, and delegate tasks to the lead hand, crew and patrol dispatch to confirm grooming report accuracy. Debrief in morning with night crew finishing shift.
  • Identify and respond to fuel or oil spills according to the Environmental Management System (EMS) procedures.
  • Source and order goods and supplies as required to support grooming operations.
  • Using Pisten Bully’s SnowSat software, provide on-going feedback to team; Manage daily progress tracking of work to identify trends and equipment issues. Encourage collective OFI’s where possible.
  • Lead and document safety meetings and review equipment needs, special instructions, mountain information updates, event coordination, weather, concerns and successes, etc., setting daily completion goals.
  • Compile and submit the grooming report with operator names, run coverage, machine hours, and fuel usage.
  • Maintain up-to-date grooming records and competency training.
  • Delegate tasks to grooming staff and adjust plans as needed throughout the shift.
