Key Responsibilities:
General Cleaning Duties
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in classrooms, offices, corridors, and common areas.
- Dust and wipe down desks, tables, counters, and other surfaces.
- Empty garbage bins and recycling containers; replace liners as needed.
- Clean windows, glass doors, and mirrors as assigned.
- Restock supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in washrooms and staff areas.
Washroom Cleaning
- Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, urinals, and floors in washrooms.
- Refill washroom supplies and ensure washrooms are stocked at all times.
- Report any plumbing or maintenance issues promptly.
Event and Common Area Support
- Assist in setting up and cleaning after college events, meetings, or special functions.
- Ensure high-traffic areas such as entrances, stairways, and lounges remain clean and safe.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures, including the proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Use and maintain cleaning equipment safely and report any equipment malfunctions.
- Wear appropriate PPE and comply with workplace safety standards.
Communication and Teamwork
- Report supply shortages, safety hazards, or damage to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to ensure cleaning tasks are completed efficiently.
- Respond to urgent cleaning requests in a timely and professional manner.
Shifts:
- Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (weekend and float shifts)
- Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. & Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (weekend and float shifts)
- Saturday 11:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. & Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (weekend and float shifts) –
- Flexibility: Staff must be flexible as they will also be required to cover shifts across the George Brown College Waterfront campus as needed.
