Rothesay Netherwood School is an independent co-educational boarding and day school for students in Grades 6 to 12, with our RNS Camps Program running a variety of camps and activities throughout the year.
We are looking for an aspiring cook to join the Food Services Team. This would be a part-time position Saturday and Sunday (approximately 20 hours per week).
Responsibilities and Duties
· Prepare basic components of each dish on our menu using our proven recipes (i.e. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
· Memorize and utilize our serving portion sizes and all basic meal preparation procedures
· Ensure that the kitchen, all food preparation areas and all food storage areas meet cleaning standards
· Work with team to do portion preparation work for other shifts when needed
· Clean up stations and facilitate the care of leftover food
· Monitor and communicate stock inventory levels appropriately
· Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
· Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers, students, and staff
· Finish tasks and abide by work schedule
· Reporting kitchen accidents or violations of food safety codes and procedures
· Open to receive feedback and coaching to grow in an ever-changing environment
· Other duties, as required
Qualifications and Skills
· High school diploma / GED required
· Ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day
· High level of professionalism
· Comfortable working with a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment
· Excellent verbal communication, organizational skills, and an attention to detail
· Ability to work independently and as a team member
· Ability to interact with students of all ages and cultures
· An exceptional ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks at a time
· Strong customer service skills and a positive, proactive can-do attitude
· Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds at a time on a regular basis
· Comfortable bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, and moving quickly
· Willing to assist with other duties as required
