Role Overview:
Assist the Factory Supervisor in maintaining the smooth production process and providing hands on support as needed across all factory areas. Responsible for checking in with each area (i.e. cutting, sewing, upholstery, framing, springing) to ensure items meet all product specifications as outlined on production tickets. The Factory Assistant will follow each item from start to finish to ensure that all areas have required materials to complete work, that they understand specifications on each ticket and identify any challenges in meeting client requirements & agreed timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
a) Factory Operations Assistant: 60% of Role
- Follow all furniture items on a daily basis, update tracker accordingly as each piece moves through production cycle, ensure tracking each piece, from oldest to newest
- Act as a liaison between Factory Supervisor and each functional area to ensure the continual flow/movement of items through the production cycle
- Identify discrepancies for Supervisor to resolve between production ticket and work completed as items move between each functional area
- Act as an assistant to the Factory Supervisor/Owner on all factory related activities
b) Floater: Hands-On Support- 40% of Role
- Assist with unloading, sorting and organize incoming materials as needed
- Assist with packaging and preparing furniture for shipping
- Maintain factory cleanliness
- Help with inventory counts, labeling, and record-keeping
- Work collaboratively with factory team
- Assist in preparing shipments and coordinating local deliveries, including dropping up and picking up items
- Jump in to support areas requiring more assistance as needed during high volume periods or support to accelerated completion of work during lower volume periods
- May be required to open/close factory as needed
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of prior experience in factory setting
- Be capable of lifting 50 lbs. of materials
- Highly organized and must have the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to read and interpret production tickets and work orders.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Team player and must work well with all other roles and functional areas
- Valid G license with clean driving record as may need to drive Company leased or owned van
- Must have good problem-solving abilities
- Proactive and solution focused; know when to inform the right people when an issue arises
- Possess strong attention to detail
- Working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office applications, notably Excel
- Passion for continuous learning and self development
Target Hiring Range- $22-$24/HR
Hours of Work- 7:45 AM- 3:45 PM- Monday- Friday
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
