Duties and responsibilities:

SaskAbilities is dedicated to providing innovative supported employment services to assist job seekers in defining and achieving their employment goals. We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our team as a Vocational Evaluator. This position is responsible for assessing and reporting on participant skills and abilities through a variety of standardized and non-standard assessment tools and observations. Information gathered from this work provides participants with a roadmap to successful employment.

  • Plan, oversee and carry out the day-to-day operations of Vocational Evaluation including information gathering, coordination of referrals and the initiation of the evaluation process. Some travel to deliver mobile vocational evaluation services is required.
  • Become a subject-matter expert with the use, administration, and interpretation of assessment tools to establish functional, attitudinal and interest levels as well as employment aptitudes.
  • Observe participants to gain information related their soft skill base, work maturity, initial academic testing and make judgements as to testing protocol and report recommendations.
  • Develop a working knowledge of all available resources such as specific work-related (e.g., existing job situations, training and apprentice programs, specialized technical schools, etc.) as well as community supports in order to provide robust recommendations.
  • Analyse and synthesis assessment and observation results to form comprehensive vocational evaluation reports that outline vocational strengths, skills and recommendations for growth or supports that will lead to a successful employment attachment.
  • Market Vocational Evaluation services/provide information sessions to potential or current referring agents with a goal of building awareness of the value that the service offers when developing a vocational plan.


Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Social Work, Education or Psychology.
  • In depth understanding of disability issues/ suitable accommodations/modifications including conducting assessments (disability, impact, functional, vocational).
  • Ability accurately administer, score and interpret standardized assessments, as well as compile and interpret test results in order to write a comprehensive report that is clear, concise and reflects the client in a positive manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to be effective and work cooperatively with a diverse audience.
  • Proven ability to be innovative and use independent problem-solving skills in order gain the most accurate information from job seekers and plan workable schedules.
  • Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers License.
