Undercover Loss Prevention Agent Job Description (HANDS ON)
We are looking for an eagle-eyed loss prevention Agent to monitor the movement of our clients sites. The loss prevention Agent will be required to conduct surveillance, detect and act on suspicious activity, and ensure the recovery of stolen items. Where necessary, you should involve the authorities.
To be successful as a loss prevention agent, you should possess the ability to conceal yourself in plain sight. An outstanding loss prevention agent would be willing to place themselves in potentially dangerous situations in order to maintain public safety.
Loss Prevention Agent Responsibilities:
- Patrol around the store as you search for suspicious activity by clients and staff.
- Monitoring previous and live security feeds to detect dubious behavior.
- Approaching and questioning individuals who seem to be acting suspiciously.
- Frisking individuals thought to be in unlawful possession of our products.
- Apprehending thieves and holding them in a separate area as you wait for the authorities.
- Knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada
- Providing eyewitness accounts at police stations, in court, and at other pertinent meetings.
- Recovering stolen products and returning these to the floor.
- Recording all attempted and successful thefts.
- Searching for and reporting on vulnerabilities in our security systems.
- Brainstorming ways to prevent theft and vandalism in and around our store.
Duties include:
- Shifts at store locations conducting surveillance, investigation, and maintenance of loss prevention systems
- Identifying areas of loss and working on shrink reduction plans
- Detection and apprehension of persons committing criminal offences against the client
- Securing evidence, report writing & document preparation for court testifying purposes
- Special assignments including training, staff awareness and orientation
- Maintaining the overall security of our locations
Qualifications:
- We have an extensive in-house training program. While we are eager to develop our people, candidates should possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to stay calm and respond with good judgment in emergency situations
- A commitment and history of protecting people and property in a safe and legal manner
- Demonstrated ability to work under strict confidentiality
- High ethical standards and a commitment to personal and professional integrity
- Good command of the English language, both written and verbal, required for report writing and court testimony
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license and own vehicle
- Availability and willingness to work at all locations and surrounding areas
- Previous Loss Prevention experience or other related experience within the Criminal Justice system would be an asset
- Previous security related education, professional accreditation, first aid and first responder training is an asset
- Use of force and restraining device training is an asset ( Must enrol in our in-house training program.
- Provincial security worker license, or the ability to obtain one before commencing work

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00-$22.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
