Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Technical Specialist - Assistant Coach Martlet Hockey will be expected to assist the head coach in the implementation of performance and development initiatives as well as with other related functions, that will help ensure the success of the hockey student-athletes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide support and development opportunities for the student-athletes.
- Record activities during a game, keep track of statistics and provide game reports
- Analyze data and identify trends of game/team/athlete activity/competency during game and post game and prepares reports to head coach
- Support coaching staff in the planning and implementation of practice and game plans
- Contribute to the pursuit of excellence of the Martlet hockey program.
- In conjunction with the coaching staff, assist in individual skill development of players.
- Attend 1-2 practices a week and assist in practice planning.
- Use of video for skill analysis and individual development.
- Assist in player identification and recruiting
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
- Knowledge or previous practical experience of the hockey sport
- Maintain and distribute on-field team equipment in preparation of game and practice equipment for the team
- Record activities during a game and keeping track of statistics for analysis of data in order to identify trends of game/team/athlete activity/competency during game and post game and prepare these reports to head coach
- Support coaching staff in the implementation of practice and game plans
- Experience working with video software if required
- Ability to multitask and be team oriented (coordinate, organize events, monitor activities)
- Level II NCCP certification or equivalent required
- Flexibility with working schedule (evening, weekends hours).
Selected candidates are required to successfully pass their criminal background check.
