Job Title: Shop Worker (Shipper and Receiver)
Terms: Full Time - Contract
Shipping and Receiving:
- Receives merchandise - checks and signs delivery slips, and unloads materials, and store in warehouse in the appropriate area
- Inspects and verifies incoming goods against Purchase orders, records (email/call PO creator) shortages and rejects damaged goods
- Accepts or returns merchandise according to established company procedures.
- Organizes distribution and shipping of merchandise. Makes necessary verifications against documents, unpacks and routes goods to appropriate storage areas.
- Operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods
- Maintains internal record-keeping systems
- Contacts resource people for various information. Contacts transport companies and suppliers in order to expedite, trace or return merchandise that does not conform to specifications or purchase orders.
- Assembles containers and crates, packs goods to be shipped and prepares identifying information and shipping instructions
- Knows safe storage and handling procedures for various chemicals and materials
- Takes inventory, maintains storage area, organizes and places stock on shelves.
- Ensures area is secure at all times.
- Load materials and deliver to job sites using trucks and/or trailers
General maintenance:
- Maintain and repair machines, mechanical equipment, and vehicles and bring forward if proper action requires outside mechanic
- Keep log of equipment as it goes out to site to ensure proper record keeping and retrieval.
- Inspect and diagnose problems and figure out the best way to correct them
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly
- Assemble and set up machinery or equipment
- Do general cleaning and upkeep of buildings and properties, including plowing, sanding and salting
- Keep detailed records of maintenance
- Ensure all equipment/machines/vehicles are cleaned and ready for use
Inventory Responsibilities:
- Maintains logs of all products and supplies.
- Checks actual store inventory against computerized records.
- Reports any discrepancies in inventory records to Office Manager
- Organizes inventory in stock room.
- Keep detail record of materials leaving inventory and which job they are going to.
Report this to office
- Files all delivery and inventory receipts.
- Writes up inventory reports detailing any overstock or missing items.
- Ensures that stock room is clean and well organized.
- Moves and restructures organization of stockroom to make space for new inventory.
- Pulls any defective or expired merchandise for return.
- Submits information on low stock to purchasing agent for replenishment of inventory.
- Retrieves products from stock room for workers
- Shop Maintenance:
- Ensure the shop and bays general clean and upkeep and there are no safety issues with stock or equipment stored inappropriately
- Complete weekly walk through, identify any health and safety issues within the shop, clean organize and ensure
- Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to facility operating systems.
- Monitor facility security – keeping camera cleaned
- Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot creatively, solve problems effectively, and make inform decisions
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
