Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and driven Service Manager to lead our growing service department at 1200 Degrees Ontario. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment and has a passion for the fire industry. Reporting to the General Manager, the Service Manager will oversee all aspects of the service department, providing leadership to our team of technicians while ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
As a key member of the management team, you will be responsible for guiding day-to-day operations, strengthening customer relationships, and ensuring efficient scheduling, repair, and warranty processes. You will play an important role in maintaining strong partnerships with manufacturers and suppliers, while supporting our technicians with technical guidance and best practices. Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead and operate a profitable, efficient, and customer-focused service department while achieving financial, productivity, and quality targets.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and daily oversight to the service team, ensuring high performance, accountability, and professional development.
- Oversee scheduling and workflow to maximize shop capacity, technician efficiency, and on-time completion of repairs and inspections.
- Maintain strong customer relationships by ensuring clear communication, accurate estimates, timely updates, and professional handling of concerns.
- Support technicians by providing technical guidance, troubleshooting expertise, and access to training and resources.
- Monitor service quality and audit work orders to ensure adherence to company standards, safety practices, and industry regulations.
- Manage administrative functions including work orders, invoicing, warranty claim submission, and compliance documentation.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as shop efficiency, customer satisfaction, and warranty recovery, and implement improvements where needed.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, and partner dealerships to ensure smooth parts flow, warranty support, and technical resources.
- Drive a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement by enforcing workplace safety standards and staying current with industry best practices.
- Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and training of service staff to build a skilled and motivated team.
- Coordinate with the sales department to support pre-delivery inspections, custom upfitting, and after-sales service requirements.
- Implement and maintain service policies, procedures, and systems that improve efficiency, communication, and customer experience.
- Prepare regular reports for management, highlighting department performance, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
- Represent the service department as part of the dealership’s leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and overall business success.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience in a service environment (Shop Foreman, Service Advisor, Assistant Manager, or Service Manager) within the heavy truck, bus, or related equipment industry.
- 310T Truck & Coach Technician license, or equivalent heavy truck/bus industry experience, is preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of service operations, including scheduling, workflow management, warranty processing, and customer service.
- Experience in mobile repair operations or managing remote service teams is considered a significant asset.
- Proven ability to manage financial aspects of a service department, including budgeting, cost control, profitability, and KPI monitoring.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, staff, and OEM partners.
- Proficiency with service management software, invoicing systems, and basic financial reporting.
