About the role
As the Senior Systems Engineer working within the C-CBRNE (Counter Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive) team, you will manage a strong team of engineers, while providing technical leadership and timely delivery of engineering artefacts to ensure the program engineering activities are successfully.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and defining the scope, budget and timescales of tasks required to complete assigned work packages, including technical support to proposals and tenders;
- Maintaining good customer relationships, acting as the engineering point of contact between internal and external stakeholders;
- Lead the project system development activities with technical insight, problem definition, requirements analysis and definition, systems design, solution option analysis and verification/validation;
- Providing guidance, counsel and challenge to develop and mentor team members, including the duties of line managers;
- Deliver high quality solutions that meet customers’ expectations and comply with contractual or tender response obligations; and
- Supporting and leading a culture of continuous improvement and innovation throughout engagement with the broader engineering team, business and customer.
About you
The successful candidate will have the knowledge to lead the acceptance and certification process for products from the procurement phase through to final customer sign-off and possess the following:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline;
- Membership of a relevant institution, holding or working towards Charted status with a desire for Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
- Typically, 6-8 years of relevant Engineering experience;
- Experience in a Team Lead or Project Management role;
- Broad understanding of effective communications principles and practices and ability to structure these to senior cross-functional audiences in a concise and clear manner;
- Experience applying Systems Engineering principles, tool & techniques, and the ability to make informed decisions;
- Previous Systems Engineering or experience either within Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) or externally supporting CASG, desirable;
- Prior experience working within Defence; either has a former ADF Serving Engineer, or within the defence industry, desirable;
