The Research Assistant position will support ongoing projects in immunology and cellular biology, with a focus on mammalian cell culture and molecular assays. The successful candidate will perform hands-on laboratory experiments to investigate immuno-metabolic responses and cellular mechanisms using established protocols for cell culture, quantitative PCR (qPCR) and ELISA. This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, organized and eager to contribute to high-impact research in a collaborative and inclusive academic setting.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct supervised research utilizing molecular biology techniques.
- Maintain mammalian cell cultures, including routine passaging, cell counting and viability assessments.
- Assist in the design, execution and documentation of experiments according to established protocols.
- Prepare reagents, maintain laboratory inventory and ensure compliance with safety and biosafety regulations.
- Collect, organize and analyze experimental data, and contribute to data presentation for reports or publications.
- Collaborate with the research team to troubleshoot experiments and optimize protocols as needed.
Requirements:
- Must be a CUE undergraduate student enrolled full-time in Fall 2025; Successful completion of BIO 371 (Introduction to Immunology) is required.
- Familiarity with cellular metabolism and related biochemical processes.
- Experience with molecular biology techniques, such as RNA extraction and qPCR, as well as with aseptic technique, is an asset.
