About Us
The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics is home to a dynamic research team conducting research on determinants of healthy aging. Our work focuses on how social determinants of health, health-related behaviors, and environmental factors shape health trajectories among middle-aged and older adults in Canada and Europe. Using longitudinal survey data, our research aims to promote equitable health outcomes and support healthy aging.
Responsibilities
Please note, this position is expected to be filled internally.
We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to contribute to our ongoing research program under the supervision of the Principal Investigators. The successful candidate will:
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to support research activities.
- Manage reference management software to organize academic resources.
- Assist in drafting, editing, and preparing academic manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Demonstrate experience conducting systematic literature reviews and possess knowledge of population health, healthy aging, determinants of health, and/or environmental risk factors.

Qualifications
Education:
- Undergraduate degree with a focus on population health, healthy aging, determinants of health, and/or environmental risk factors (minimum)
- Master’s degree with a focus on the above areas (preferred)
Experience:
- At least one year of research experience in population health, healthy aging, determinants of health, and/or environmental risk factors
- Proven experience of conducting literature reviews and using reference management software
- Experience writing academic papers and preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to process information accurately
- Proven ability to work systematically and efficiently
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a professional and courteous approach in team settings
- Superior writing skills
- Strong computer skills and adaptability to new software
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document technical information clearly and accurately
