Overview
The St Vincent de Paul Society of Kingston is mandated to provide practical assistance and support to individuals and families who access our services. All services are provided in a compassionate and respectful manner that reflects and reinforces the dignity and humanity of all persons.
All responsibilities carried out by the Social Service Worker shall demonstrate this philosophy and shall support and encourage a sense of community within our programs, ensuring that we provide a welcoming, safe, friendly place for program participants, guests, and volunteers.
Duties
- Provide client supervision for all programs offered by the agency and work to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all in attendance.
- Provide referrals as needed for our clients as they identify specific challenges they are having.
- Monitor client behaviour and intervene as necessary.
- Provide feedback and directions to volunteers and/or placement students where needed.
- Undertake necessary problem solving or mediation with participants and volunteers.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
- A commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field.
