RECREATION COORDINATOR

We are currently looking for a Recreation Coordinator to join our team.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education in Recreation, Leisure Studies or Gerontology and several years experience in the recreation field for older adults.
- Knowledge and experience related to the social and recreation needs of the residents.
- Proficient in the use of various computer programs including
Microsoft Office and Publisher.
- A valid driver’s license is required, a Class 4 would be an asset
- First Aid/CPR certification
- A clear Police Record Check/Police Vulnerable Sector Check
QUALITIES: The successful candidate will have the ability to provide leadership in organizing and implementing creative activities and events.
An outgoing, energetic, enthusiastic, and compassionate disposition is required for this position. A genuine enjoyment for working with older adults.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
POSITION: This full-time (40 hours per week) position is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of all social and recreation-based programs.
These programs include, but are not limited to, exercises, crafts, games, presentations, entertainment, clubs, and bus excursions.
DUTIES AND Develop and implement unique social and recreation programs in a
RESPONSIBILITIES: Growing Active Seniors’ Residence
- Plan, organize and accompany residents on bus excursions
- Learn residents likes and requirements upon initial move-in and periodically update these assessments as to their interests and participation in recreation programs.
- Maintain up to date and accurate files and statistics on the successful execution of programs. Assess programs participation to enhance future programming.
- Ensure that all programs are conducted in a safe and secure environment.
- Prepare monthly activities and events and ensure all residents are aware of and encouraged to participate in these events and activities.
- Obtain and maintain a supply of equipment for activities and programs; maintain an inventory of items.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the Leasing and Dining Services Departments for events
- Develop and maintain partnerships with community resources to facilitate their delivery of specialized programs, entertainment and presentations.
- Maintain knowledge in the latest trends and developments in recreation programming for older adults by reading relevant materials, attending workshops, etc.
