As a Program Assistant you are assisting the program as needed. Children with Special Needs are registered in the program and you will be of support to the RECE in the room. You will report to Supervisors and to the RECE in the room.
Child Supervision & Engagement:
Directly supervise children, and facilitate their participation in play, crafts, and other educational activities that promote their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
Care & Hygiene:
Assist children with daily routines, including eating, dressing, and toileting.
Activity Support:
Prepare activity materials, such as crafts, and assist with organizing rooms and furniture for activities, meals, and rest periods.
Observation & Reporting:
Submit written observations on children's behavior and progress to Early Childhood Educators or supervisors.
Safety & Housekeeping:
Help maintain the cleanliness and safety of the childcare environment, including daycare equipment.
Communication:
Participate in staff meetings to discuss children's progress and challenges.
Support for Educators:
Work under the guidance of Early Childhood Educators, supporting their program planning and implementation.
Employment Requirements
Education:
A secondary school completion is the minimum educational requirement.
Experience:
Two years previous experience in childcare.
Certifications:
A valid certificate in Standard First Aid and CPR is required. A Recent Vulnerable Sector Check and proof of Immunizations
Skills:
Good communication, a commitment to inclusion, and the ability to work effectively and with initiative in a team environment are required.
