Position Summary:
CONTEXT
The
Sustainability Education Fellows
Program (SEF) is a cross-campus initiative that brings together faculty and graduate students to advance sustainability in the curriculum and pedagogy at McGill
The SEF Program Officer will coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the program’s fourth cohort, while also supporting adjacent initiatives to promote sustainability in teaching and learning at McGill

DUTIES
Program Design and Implementation
  • Lead the coordination and delivery of the SEF training sessions (both in person and online) between fall 2025 and spring 2026, including a two-day December retreat
  • Co-develop session agendas and materials; liaise with guest facilitators, instructional designers, and other collaborators
  • Coach and mentor Fellows (faculty and student) as they redesign or develop sustainability-focused courses
  • Provide leadership for program check-ins and support activities
  • Coordinate the SEF Advisory Group, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and leading the meetings
Program Evaluation and Knowledge Mobilization
  • Oversee the administration of initial, mid-term, and final program evaluations to track Fellow progress and impact
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative feedback to inform program improvements
  • Coordinate the development of an open-access, bilingual (FR/EN) guide to support sustainability course (re)design
Communications and Outreach
  • Support outreach and recruitment for the 2025–2026 cohort
  • Create content for SEF social media and newsletters
  • Maintain SEF’s online presence and website
Institutional and Inter-University Collaboration
  • Work with instructional designers and program leaders at McGill to advance a shared vision for sustainability education
  • Help consolidate an internal network of McGill sustainability curriculum leaders
  • Support inter-university engagement with other Canadian institutions advancing sustainability education initiatives
Strategic and Administrative Support
  • Contribute to the development of long-term funding proposals to secure the SEF’s future
  • Support an ongoing research project on the SEF’s institutional impact
  • Stay connected with project partners across campus to ensure the SEF remains aligned with related sustainability education initiatives and to identify opportunities for collaboration and innovation in curriculum development
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Experience in instructional design and workshop facilitation, ideally related to sustainability or interdisciplinary teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to engage faculty and students in programmatic or pedagogical initiatives
  • Team coordination and leadership skills, including experience facilitating collaboration across diverse groups
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with writing for newsletters, social media, and reports
  • Experience in qualitative and/or quantitative program evaluation an asset
  • Knowledge of sustainability education in higher education contexts and McGill’s sustainability initiatives is an asset
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
