Here's the Scoop – Summary
The Production Operator is responsible for supporting the efficient and safe operation of equipment and processes within a pet food manufacturing facility. This position involves monitoring machinery, maintaining product quality standards, and following safety and sanitation protocols. Success in this role requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
What a typical day looks like:
- Review the production schedule to determine ingredient requirements and priorities, check inventory levels, and coordinate ingredients for batching accordingly.
- Assist with daily inventory counts, including bulk, extrusion, and bagged materials.
- Support truck unloading activities to align with production needs, customer expectations, and carrier schedules.
- Maintain accurate production and maintenance records, promptly reporting any issues to the area supervisor.
- Participate in the company’s annual physical inventory process.
- Ensure cleanliness of the work areas in compliance with company policies and health and safety standards.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to health and safety, food safety, and environmental compliance.
- Assist with mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What are we looking for?
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food production.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proficiency in using tools and equipment.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift; certification is considered an asset.
- Experience and/or certification in confined space entry and fall arrest procedures.
- Proficiency in using ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a logical mindset and strong attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
- Ability to accurately complete required documentation and reports.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Solid computer literacy.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Physically fit, with the ability to regularly lift loads up to 50 lbs.
