Chef Kate Rice of AtYourTable.ca is looking for an enthusiastic and personable Chef to join her boutique culinary business offering elevated in-home dining experiences and intimate catered events across the Lower Mainland.
At Your Table At YourTable.ca is led by Chef Kate Rice, whose thoughtful, seasonal menus and warm professionalism have earned a loyal following in the private chef and event catering world. Based in Vancouver, her service brings elegant food and personalized hospitality into people’s homes and special gatherings.
About the Role This is a hands-on support role ideal for a woman who thrives in small, focused teams and takes pride in food that is beautiful, precise, and full of heart. You’ll work directly with Chef Kate to prep, cook, plate, and deliver memorable food experiences. This role has potential for growth. The right candidate will eventually take the lead on service and events, representing At Your Table independently and leading a small team. Strong leadership, organization, and interpersonal skills are key.
Key Responsibilities
- Cooking in clients homes, engaging and preparing meals to their liking
- Assist with kitchen prep and event cooking
- Execute plating and presentation with care
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen
- Help pack and set up for off-site events
- Occasionally lead in Chef Kate’s absence
- Follow food safety protocols and presentation standards
- Represent At Your Table with warmth and professionalism
- Provide leadership and guidance to support staff when needed
Qualifications
- 5+ years fine dining kitchen experience (Sous chef, or Catering Lead)
- Strong knife skills, ingredient knowledge, and attention to detail
- Calm, efficient, and collaborative in busy environments
- Valid Food Safe Level 1 certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Personable and friendly with clients and colleagues
- Confident with public speaking, conversation and interaction with guests
- Natural leadership qualities and initiative
- Punctual, professional, and kind
- Strong communication skills
- Driver’s license and access to a vehicle
Bonus Assets
- Culinary diploma or Red Seal certification
- Experience with small events or fine dining plating
- Serving It Right or First Aid
Schedule & Details
- Part-time with flexible hours (event-based)
- Weekdays, evenings, and weekends as needed
- Prep work in Vancouver; events across Metro Vancouver
