Join the City of Wetaskiwin’s New Police Committee!
Are you passionate about community safety and making a difference in your community? We are seeking engaged, community-minded individuals to serve on our newly formed Police Committee. This committee, established under the authority of the Alberta Police Act, will help guide local policing priorities, support community safety, and ensure citizen input on policing matters. Contribute your voice and join us in guiding local policing priorities and ensure community voices are heard.
Committee Members Will:
- Volunteer their time as this is a non-paid role.
- Be appointed for a term of three (3) years.
- Play a key role in bringing forward and sharing community perspectives and concerns.
- Help review crime statistics and safety initiatives.
- Be required to attend regular meetings, held approximately every second month.
- Must be 18 years or older, except for a youth representative, who shall be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
- Be a Canadian Citizen or a Canadian Permanent Resident, and a resident of the City of Wetaskiwin for a minimum of six (6) months.
- Must not work or be hired in any capacity with the RCMP, any Provincial or Municipal Police Service, the Provincial Justice Department or Public Safety and Emergency Services of Alberta.
- Will be required to take an Oath of Office as prescribed in the Police Act.
- Must be able to provide a clean criminal record check and suitability screening through the RCMP.
- Pass an Enhanced Security Check conducted by the Government of Alberta.
