Join the Big White Ski Patrol Team – Dispatch Role
Location: Big White Ski Resort, British Columbia
Season Duration: Early November – Mid-April
Schedule: 4 days on / 3 days off, 10‑hour shifts
Wage: $21.50–$24.50/hr (based on experience) + $0.50/hr upon completion of training logbook

Key Responsibilities
Dispatch Operations
- Respond to telephone and radio calls; assist walk-in patients
- Coordinate patroller deployment using dispatch software and maintain an accurate Dispatch Log
- Monitor mountain conditions and communicate critical updates to field teams
- Manage interdepartmental communications and coordinate with EMS
- Document incidents, lift evacuations, search & rescue, and daily dispatch logs
Ski Patrol Operations
- Provide first aid (WorkSafeBC-designated care) to guests and staff
- Conduct incident investigations and risk management assessments
- Perform slope opening/closing sweeps, lift evacuations, and snowmobile duties
- Participate in slope watch, public safety initiatives, and avalanche control support
- Serve as a frontline ambassador, offering friendly and professional guest service
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Valid 80‑hour+ first aid certification (e.g., OFA3, WFR, EMR/PCP, ASPA, NZ PHEC)
- Typing speed of 40 wpm minimum
- Proficiency in radio use, MS Office, and comfort with learning new software
- Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Advanced skiing or snowboarding ability
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong organization, calm under pressure, and proactive problem-solving
Assets
- Local mountain knowledge (Big White terrain familiarity)
- Experience with emergency response coordination
- Experience using 1Risk software.
Personal Equipment (Must Have by Start Date)
- Patrol-approved helmet
- One full set of ski or snowboard gear (boots, bindings, skis/board)
- Smartphone with a data plan
