Job Purpose
Reporting to the Manager, Community Relations in Concordia University of Edmonton’s (CUE) Public Affairs Department, the Outreach and Engagement Assistant supports initiatives that connect the university with its broader community, including alumni, donors, and other stakeholders. This position provides hands-on experience in outreach, engagement, and event support, including database updates, communications, social media monitoring, and event logistics. The successful candidate will provide administrative and operational support while gaining experience in community engagement, communications, and event coordination.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain and update records for outreach and engagement activities, including data entry for alumni, donors, and other stakeholder contacts.Make phone calls and send emails to community members for event invitations, confirmations, and follow-up communications.
Provide general administrative support to the Community Relations team, including preparing mailings, registration lists, and event materials.
Assist with planning and logistics for on-campus and off-campus events, including room bookings, set-up, registration, and on-the-day support.
Monitor and contribute to social media channels by drafting posts, creating graphics (e.g., Canva), and supporting short-form content development (reels, TikToks, etc.).
Track and report on engagement metrics across digital channels.
Respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner, escalating as appropriate to the Community Relations team.
Support recognition and promotion of achievements within the community where applicable.
Provide a student or entry-level perspective to outreach and engagement initiatives as requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills.Comfortable making phone calls and interacting with community members in a professional manner.
Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and contribute effectively in a collaborative team environment.
High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in data entry and record-keeping.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Dedicated to providing excellent customer service.
Ability to track engagement metrics and support reporting on outreach initiatives.
Willingness to contribute ideas and support creative approaches to community engagement.
Education and Qualifications
Currently enrolled as a CUE student.
Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Canva or similar design tools is an asset.
Experience using social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.) and creating digital content is an asset.
Satisfactory Criminal Records Check results.
