Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role

Position Reports To: Senior Mine Technician – Underground
Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Senior Mine Technician. The key objective of this position is to manage all UG ventilation requirements including QA/QC, some short term planning and assist survey team when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct weekly ventilation survey and report on mine ventilation systems to ensure adequate airflow and maintain a safe working environment for employees.
- Create short term ventilation plans when required.
- Assist in ventilation project execution.
- Conduct quality control checks on underground mine workings, including tunnels, shafts, and other mining infrastructure to ensure compliance with regulations and efficient operations.
- Assist Geo-Technical team in pull testing when required.
- Conduct daily mine survey tasks when required to ensure accurate reporting of production data, and compliance with regulations.
- Daily survey tasks include, but are not limited to: utilizing monopod survey systems to ensure line and grade, issuing development driving layouts, performing production mark-ups, conducting void scans using drones, and carrying out production drilling QA/QC
Qualifications:
- A degree in Mine Technology or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Underground Mine Technician
- Strong understanding of underground mining operations
- Experience with ventilation software (E.g. Ventsim) is an asset.
- Experience with surveying and mapping software is an asset.
- Experience with Deswik is an asset.
- Experience in month-end survey and reconciliation, ventilation monitoring, and quality control of underground mine workings.
- Experience with drone utilization in an underground mine is an asset.
- Knowledge of data analysis and reporting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong focus on safety and adherence to regulations, with experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing safety procedures.
- Possess Valid driver's license.
