We are looking for an additional team member that is enthusiastic, motivated, and hard-working for our Material Handler/DZ Driver position. This position is based out of London, Ontario and will primarily be a Material Handler role but, will have additional responsibilities as a Driver when required (covering vacation, sick days, extra deliveries).
Day Shift: 8:00am-4:30pm (Monday to Friday)
Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading of products and materials by hand, or with basic material handling equipment.
- Picking orders and putting stock away while often working at heights.
- Maintaining an organized inventory, performing daily/weekly and monthly cycle counts.
- Successfully operate a computerized inventory control system, using RF scanners
- Working together in a faced pace environment with repetitive tasks, heavy lifting (up to 50lbs), bending, crouching kneeling, manual dexterity etc.
- Cleaning and general upkeep of work area
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
- Complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift. May include, but not limited to Daily Log reports, Inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspection, hours of service, etc.
- Delivery of product and proper paperwork to our customers in a courteous and timely manner
- Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices compliance with Acts and regulations
- Maneuver trucks into a loading and unloading position, follow signals from lading cred as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
- Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors or other drivers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills Needed
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks and a variety of warehouse mechanical equipment (where applicable) - Forklift certification an asset
- At least 1 year of warehousing or material-handling (using hand/power tools and hand truck) equipment experience required
- Ability to handle weights up to 50 lbs
- Experience with a computerized inventory system and use of a RF scanner
- Ability to drive safely in all weather conditions using defensive driving
- A team player in a client focused, professional environment communicating with clients while receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.
- Air Brake Endorsement (Z)
- Class 3 driver’s License (D)
- Comfortable with numbers and finding information, significant use of memory required
- Ability to read, speak and write English
