The Opportunity:
The Manager, Finance and Procurement, reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for leading and overseeing financial operations and procurement activities, ensuring alignment with hospital policies, provincial regulations, and healthcare best practices.
This role plays a critical part in financial planning and analysis, budget management, procurement oversight, and internal controls, supporting both operational excellence and long-term sustainability. The Manager provides strategic and operational leadership to a team of finance and procurement professionals and collaborates closely with clinical and non-clinical departments across the organization.
This position will also play a role in supporting the financial accounting of the hospital’s new capital redevelopment project.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing (required)
- 5+ years of progressive leadership in finance and procurement – healthcare or broader public sector experience strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of Ontario healthcare funding models, public sector procurement rules, and PSAS (Public Sector Accounting Standards)
- Hands-on experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and systems such as Meditech, Workday Adaptive, or similar
- Strategic thinker with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Inspiring leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments with multiple priorities
- High integrity, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Duties and Responsibilities:
Finance Leadership
- Direct daily financial operations, including budget development, forecasting, reporting, and internal controls
- Lead month-end and year-end processes, ensuring compliance with public sector accounting standards for government not-for-profit organizations
- Prepare accurate, timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including Ontario Health and the Ministry of Health
- Support audits and external reviews, ensuring readiness and responsiveness
- Provide data-driven insights to support strategic decisions and hospital-wide initiatives
- Support organizational leaders in understanding their budgets and variance reports, while partnering with them to identify opportunities for financial efficiencies and strategic resource allocation.
Capital Redevelopment Accounting
- Support capital accounting and reconciliation activities for the hospital redevelopment project, ensuring compliance with internal policies
- Collaboration with the Project Director, Planning and Strategy on Ministry of Health capital reporting
Procurement Oversight
- Lead a values-driven, compliant procurement program aligned with the Broader Public Sector (BPS) Procurement Directive with partner organization Mohawk Medbuy Corporation
- Support procurement strategies that emphasize transparency, value for money, and service delivery
- Support with tendering, contract negotiations, and vendor management
- Work closely with operational leaders to ensure procurement supports front-line needs effectively and efficiently
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of finance and materials management professionals
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration
- Champion system integration and process improvement to streamline workflows and optimize outcomes
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to all relevant legislation, policies, and standards across finance and procurement operations
- Identify and mitigate risk through strong internal controls, training, and proactive monitoring

Hours of Work: Days – Monday to Friday. Please be reminded that as a hospital, in order to provide the necessary patient care, our operations run 24/7. Therefore, depending on the program for which you are applying, it may be an expectation that you are available to work weekdays and weekends, as well as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights.
Wage: $60.35 to $71.68 per hour.
