Job Description
Reporting to the Director, Digital Health, the Manager, Clinical Informatics is a key leadership role driving the integration of clinical practice and technology to improve patient outcomes. You will:
- Drive Strategic Initiatives: Lead the planning, implementation, and optimization of clinical information systems (e.g., EHRs) to enhance care delivery, safety, and efficiency.
- Own End-to-End Project Leadership: Oversee project planning, resource allocation, budgeting, and implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and regulatory standards.
- Develop High-Performing Teams: Manage the full employee lifecycle for the Clinical Informatics team, including recruitment, coaching, performance evaluation, and professional development—fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Champion Collaboration: Partner with clinical programs, IT, and leadership to translate frontline needs into technology solutions that streamline workflows and improve outcomes.
- Lead the planning, implementation, optimization, and evaluation of clinical information systems—including electronic health records (EHRs) and clinical decision support tools—to enhance care delivery and operational efficiency
- Provide vision and direction for clinical informatics strategy, data governance, system interoperability, and emerging technologies to support safe, evidence-based care and continuous quality improvement
- Partner with clinical program teams to identify informatics needs, align technology with clinical workflows, and ensure systems support organizational goals and evidence-based practices
- Oversee training, change management, and education initiatives to support effective system use and adoption. Leverage quality improvement & change management methodologies and workflow analysis to drive outcomes
- Serve as a key liaison between clinicians, IT, and administrative teams to bridge clinical practice with technology. Translate priorities, facilitate collaboration, and drive user-centered system design
- Provide strategic direction on data governance, interoperability, and analytics to drive quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and informed clinical decision-making
- Ensure all data governance and reporting activities comply with PHIPA/PIPEDA, Accreditation Canada standards and Ministry of Health directives
- Conduct periodic data-quality audits and gap analyses; develop corrective action plans to address completeness, accuracy or timeliness issues.
- Maintain incident-response protocols for data breaches or integrity violations, coordinating with Privacy, Legal and IT Security teams to remediate risks.
- Manage and mentor the Clinical Informatics team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and professional growth through coaching, performance evaluation, and knowledge sharing.
- Oversee training programs for clinical staff, monitor system performance, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, privacy laws, and accreditation standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, or a related health discipline (Master’s preferred)
- At least 5 years of experience in a complex, integrated clinical informatics environment
- Regulated Health Professional with registration in good standing with a regulatory college, required.
- Proven leadership experience including supervising, providing technical advice and guidance to healthcare leaders, overseeing transformational projects across a complex group with competing priorities
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows and data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR).
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Ontario’s healthcare landscape, including provincial EHR initiatives and standards.
- Demonstrated proficiency, with certification strongly preferred, in Project Management (e.g., PMI), Process Improvement (e.g., LEAN), or Health Information Management Systems (e.g., CPHIMS) preferred
- Expertise in clinical information systems, data management, and analytics.
- Ability to bridge clinical and technical domains effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., Cerner, Epic, Meditech, or other EHR systems).
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
Additional Information
Status: Permanent Full-Time
Hours: Monday and Wednesday; 7.5 hour day shifts; 0800 - 1600 (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)
Salary: $53.083 to $65.767 per hour
