Position Summary: Fairview Seniors Community is actively seeking a friendly, self-motivated individual to join our Environmental Services Team. This position is pivotal to maintaining and enhancing the welcoming environment found in our tenant, community and staff spaces. Our environmental services team is responsible for the general maintenance, servicing and repairs to maintain the campus, equipment, furnishings, fixtures and surrounding grounds in excellent condition. The team is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors and staff members.
Reports to: Director of Environmental Services
Assets and Qualifications:
- Experience in a health care setting is required
- Experience working with older adults
- Attention to detail and ability to manage tight deadlines is critical
- Must be self-motivated to ensure that work is completed in a timely manner
- Positive, team-work attitude and approach to work
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to use a computer to access our maintenance care system
- Must possess a valid provincial driver’s license and have access to a vehicle
- Ability to perform required physical duties that may include bending, kneeling, reaching, standing for extended periods of time, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying boxes, tools and equipment.
- Demonstrated skills in light carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting and general equipment maintenance is required.
- Current Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check, TB skin test and COVID-19 vaccination are required
Position Specific Responsibilities: include, but are not limited to:
· Adhere to all written policies and procedures of the Home.
· Perform all tasks with an acceptable standard of skill and sense of responsibility, using qualified trades as required.
· Work safely, following the Safety Guidelines as posted.
· Support contract workers completing work at the campus.
· Follow WHMIS 2015, fire safety and emergency plan procedures.
· Attend meetings, training and in-services.
· Following infection prevention and control procedures.
· Keeping work area clean and tidy.
· Report any immediate or potential hazards to the department Director.
· Perform general maintenance and repairs to plumbing, electrical, small appliances and equipment.
· Complete MaintenanceCare requests daily as appropriate.
· Pick up garbage and recycling throughout the entire campus; dispose of safely.
· Clean hard and carpeted floors routinely.
· Complete department-specific audits and preventative maintenance as per schedule.
· clean and maintain the pool including pool monitoring system, record pool water readings and adding chemicals as required. Order and restock pool chemical supplies.
· valid driver’s license and/or immediate access to a vehicle to fulfil duties at off-campus buildings.
· Must be available, as per schedule, for on-call to assist with ‘after-hours’ emergencies on the campus.
Shift Information: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. Day, holiday and weekend shifts are required; some evening shifts may be required.
Ability to provide effective service in French (proficient in conversational French for activities of daily living) is considered an asset.
