Maintenance Coordinator
About the job
In this role, you will:- plan, monitor, direct and administer multi-year contracts related to the year round maintenance, repair and construction of transportation related facilities within a specified geographical area in an Area Maintenance Contract (AMC) environment;
- participate in the planning of maintenance, repair operations and construction activities;
- carry out inspections and monitoring, interpret contract plans and drawings, prepare work plans, costs, financial forecasts, expenditures and negotiations;
- monitor, direct and coordinate activities of staff and contractors

Mandatory requirements
- The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G driver's licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
Road Maintenance and Construction Knowledge:
- knowledge of road maintenance, inspection and repair in summer and winter conditions
- knowledge of road construction, practices, equipment and materials
Legislative and Contract Management Knowledge:
- ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation such as Highway Traffic Act, Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act
- knowledge of contract management and administration procedures, reporting requirements and documentation to assist in negotiations and solve problems
- ability to prepare cost estimates and interpret contract plans, documents and specifications
Supervisory and Planning Skills:
- ability to plan and lead activities within established timeframes
- supervisory skills to supervise staff and manage stakeholders in high pressure situations to resolve problems
Communication and Computer Skills:
- strong communication skills to effectively present information in a clear and concise manner
- proficient with various computer software programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook
