Job Summary
The successful candidate/s should possess the following qualifications:
- 3+ years of law clerk/assistant experience working with Accident Benefits claims in a personal injury and/or insurance litigation firm with references
- Proficiency with the Rules of Civil Procedure and/or the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule
- Experience in trial preparation and dispute resolution processes such as drafting of claims, motion records, legal memoranda, LAT Applications, etc.
- Scheduling appointments, examination for discovery, mediations, pre-hearings, etc.
- Complete sworn Affidavits of Documents
- Completion of and compliance with undertakings and statutory declarations
- Exceptional communication, customer service and organizational skills
- Ability to manage a large volume of documents, prioritize and meet strict deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Organizing/maintaining lawyer calendar
- Communicate, as appropriate, with clients, adjusters, counsel, and court officials
- Submitting various applications, expenses, medicals, etc
- Assistance with preparing A/B files
- Reception duties
Tort Clerk / Paralegal responsibilities will also include assisting counsel with clients’ accident benefits claims and dispute resolution processes.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience working within Tort and Accident Benefits
- Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team setting
- Bachelors Degree Preferred or Post-Secondary diploma - legal assistant or law clerk
- Fast and accurate typing speed (over 60 wpm)
- Excellent use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong organizational, problem solving, time management skills and great follow through
- Excellent work ethics and a strong attention to detail
- You thrive on a fast pace and enjoy working on a variety of files
- Excellent oral and written communication skill
- Experience with Primafact is considered an asset
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
