Lo Faso & Morawetz is a boutique full service law firm in Vaughan, Ontario, with a practice focus on Civil Litigation, Real Estate, Estate and Corporate Law.
We are currently recruiting a Law Clerk/Legal Assistant to join our busy Civil Litigation Team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparation and assembly of court documents, including affidavits, notices, motion records, factums and books of authorities
- coordinate service and filing of court materials
- coordinate scheduling of litigation steps, including motions, trials, and examinations
- draft, review and revise correspondence and other documents based on precedents and instructions from lawyers, including, memos, letters, emails, reports and forms
- assist the lawyers with administrative management, including file management, meeting scheduling and travel scheduling
- assist with docket entries, file/client list management, billing, expense processing and invoice payment
- assist with proofreading/editing
- organize and maintain file management system
Qualifications:
- post-secondary education in legal administration or equivalent with a minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and court practices and procedures
- experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PCLaw, CaseLines, ACL and JSO Portal
- highly organized with excellent communication skills
- the ability to be a team player and interact positively with clients, lawyers and other firm staff
- professional, dependable, adaptable, and able to maintain confidentiality and discretion
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
